Identify.

Identify the issues you care about.

Figure out what makes you passionate, what kind of change you want to make in the world, and what ideals you hold. Reviewing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) website might spur you to realize which issues you value most deeply.

Educate.

Educate yourself on the issue(s) you want to focus on.

You can’t make a change if you don’t fully understand an issue. People of all ages can do research to better understand a problem. Complete a school project on an issue. Interview an expert on the subject. Volunteer for an organization that works to solve the problem. Even simply watching TED Talks or listening to reputable podcasts can help you gain a deeper understanding.

Reach Out.

Reach out to take action.

The last step is to take action. We created the UNAGB SDG Action Corner to make it easier for you to make a change locally. Explore the SDG Action Corner by SDG to see how you can contribute to the local organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders that are already working toward the SDGs. You can also find here the ACLU’s guide to writing to your elected officials.
